SAN SALVADOR, RUM CAY, CONCEPCION ISLANDS Island News: Riding Rock Inn and Marina - has one of the best scuba diving programs in the Caribbean. San Salvador is known world wide for the quality and diversity of the diving. With over 50 dive sites to choose from, you can enjoy wall dives, wreck dives, cave dives, night dives and more. Normal daily visibility is in the 100 foot plus range. RIDING ROCK IS OPEN - They have done a lot of renovation since summer of 2997, and renovations are still in progress of of Jan 2008. Flats Fishing Patterns: Fishing the southern Bahamas, including San Salvador, is a way to play the odds against the tricky weather patterns, and in the spring, summer and fall the weather is almost always gorgeous. March through July and October through November are prime months, with December through February having a good chance of nice weather. August and September can be great, but these are the prime hurricane season month January 27 , 2008 Fishing Report - This is the perfect island for DIY bonefishing. Most flats are easily accessible by car, though you will have to do some slogging to get to a few of the best flats. But don't worry, there are even more flats with hard sand bottoms and easy access, including the flat just north of Club Med. The best fishing is on the other side of the island, throughout the Pigeon Creek area and on up to Polly Hill. #4-6 Gotcha, #4-6 Gotcha Clouser, #6 Kwan's, #6-8 Veverka's Mantis Shrimp, #4-6 Miheve's Flats Fly, #4-6 Pink Bonefish Puffs, and #4 Borski's Bonefish Critters are our favorite patterns. REEF/OFFSHORE: Good catches reported out of Riding Rock Marina for wahoo, som tuna and smaller dorado. Charter boats are available through Riding Rock Marina.
