NEWS AND UPDATES

George Town, Great Exuma - Peace and Plenty Bonefish Lodge has been sold and is closed. Magnolia and the excellent staff have moved to the P&P Club and operations are better than ever.

We have received excellent reports about service and accommodations at Coral Gardens Bed & Breakfast. Owners Betty and Peter Oxley provide a homey stay with fine hospitality and a value price. A good base for DIY anglers.

NEW OPTION on Mangrove Cay, Andros - Swain's Cay Lodge. You can choose from beachfront and oceanview suites or gardenview rooms. You can fish the beachfront on your own, hire an independent guide, go snorkeling, diving, kayaking, or just hang out and catch some rays. A nice option for those who don't want a bonefishing lodge program.

New independent guide option on Mangrove Cay: Alvin Greene has years of experience guiding the Middle and South Bights and the West Side. Click here to visist Alvin's web site.

NEW at Sandy Point, Abaco - Black Fly Bonefishing Lodge, operated by Nervous Waters, same company that operates Bair's and Abaco Bonefish Lodge. If you want to fish Sandy Point, Moore's Island and the Southern Marls this is a grea upscale option. Like all Nervous Waters Lodges, there is a focus on lodge comfort, excellent food, and quality boats. There are still dates available for the spring season, but you need to book soon to fish this exciting location. Please contact Kim for more information, and to book your spots at this exciting new bonefishing location

NEW Long Island Bonefishing Lodge - Deadman's Cay. This new lodge is operated by Nevin "Pinky" Knowles and while they have a traditional guided fishing program, they really want to promote "assisted" DIY. So your guide takes you to the flats, drops you off, picks you up at lunch, take you to another flat, drops you off, and then picks you up at the end of the day to return to the lodge. Other DIY highlights include kayak trips into the mangrove creek areas. Conact Pinky directly through their web site or call him at: 1-242-472-2609.

THE DELHI CLUB, at Rolling Harbour, Abaco is a new luxury bonefishing lodge/hotel on the Atlantic coast, southof Winding Bay, with stunning views of the beach and the ocean. Designed in the style of an 18th century colonial plantation house, the 8 bedroom lodge sits high on a bluff above the beach. The lodge is operated normally by renting rooms, like a hotel, but the entire house can be rented for private groups. Reservations are normally Saturday to Saturday. Anglers can book guides to fish the Marls, plus there is fishing you can do on your own if you have a rental car. We suggest a rental car at this location. Non-anlgers will be more than comfortable, with a variety of acitivities available. The restaurant (and chef) are excellent, with dining on the fancy side, and the bar is well-stocked.

BIG CHARLIE'S LODGE on Cargill Creek - One of our favorite guides of all time--Charlie Neymour makes every day on the water fun. Charlie, and his wife, Fatiah, have moved from Nottages Cottages, and now have their own comfortable lodge on Cargill Creek. Aside from great bonefishing, tarpon fishing, and reef fishing, Charlie also offers camps out trips to the West Side for wild boar hunting and wing shooting. You can book Charlie and some of the other best independent guides on Andros by emaling Kim directly. Please note: If you are looking for the best possible "serious fishing" trip, staying here and fishing with Charlie and our other independent guides is our Number One recommendation in The Bahamas. We guarantee you will love this fishing experience.

Bonafide Bonefishing, operated by top guide Docky Smith, is our choice as the best guide to fish with on Long Island. Please visit Docky's web site, which is a wealth of information on fishing in Long Island. Here you can book Docky directly, learn more about his operation and experience, see his tackle recommendations, and look at some great photos. Check out the permit shots. Wow.

Two Boys Inn - Great Value and DIY Options -- Frankie Neymour, Charlie's brother, and Barry Neymour, Frankie and Charlie's cousin, have started a small guest house on Cargill Creek....this is an ideal spot and a great price for anglers who want to fish with a top guide and/or DIY....excellent wade fishing options in the area. Email Kim for the details, and she can begin booking your trip.

Winter Haven Inn, Clarence Town - This is our top choice for staying in the Clarence Town area, which is the perfect location to relax, and to enjoy the areas wonderful fishing. The Inn has 8 spacious rooms, all with ocean views, and some overlooking the pool. The on-site Rowdy Boy's Bar and Grill serves the breakfast, lunch and dinner, authentic Bahamian fare at reasonable prices, though the lobster and steak dishes are expensive. The owners are friendly and helpful, and they can book anything you need.....fishing guides, car rentals, island tours, all you have to do is ask.

Cecile Knowles is a good guide option in the Deadman's Cay area. Cecile has been a commercial fisherman, and a fly fishing guide for many years, and knows the fishing grounds extremely well. His guide rates are very reasonable, $300 USD per day, which is below the rate of most guides, and this includes lunch. Cecile's wife, Judy, is a real estate broker and she has nice rental properties for anglers and vacationers. You can contact them directly at: (242) 337-1555, or cell phone: (242) 472-8316. Email: islandpalmrealty@gmail.com

Colin Cartwright has a relatively new bonefishing operation under way....The Triple Seas Bonefish Lodge is located on the waterfront near the Deadman's Cay Sound, Long Island. The lodge can accommodate four anglers, and is just minutes away by boat from the inland flats. All rooms have a/c and private baths. The Hot Spot restaurant and bar is a short walk away. Anglers fly into Deadman's Cay Airport. Colin is also available as an independent guide if you are staying somewhere else. For more information contact Colin Cartwright at 242-357-1067 (cell), or 242-337-0443 (home). Email: Colin Cartwright.

Flamingo Cay, Wide Open, Andros's West Side - Established in the 1920s as a duck hunting club by the Bethel family, the club has been an exclusive hunting and fishing lodge every since for family friends, including British royalty. A couple of years ago, Charles Bethel III decided it was time to open the fun to the public, although the lodge rarely advertises, and most guest make their bookings from word-of-mouth recommendations from previous guests.

The club sits on a remote creek on Andros's uninhabited West Side, in a sprawling bay known as Wide Open. Large schools of bonefish roam the white sand flats from Pretty Creek to Williams island, though you don't have to go far to catch fish. We've had days of 40 plus bones just fishing the shoreline right outside the home creek. And if you're looking for big bones, those double digit monsters roam the outer sand bank not more than fifteen minutes from the lodge. Tarpon fishing is also excellent, and its not uncommon to get shots at permit. For wing-shooters, the dove and duck hunting is fabulous. Fishing season in October 1 to June 31, and shooting season is October 15 to March 31. E-mail Kim for more details and booking information.

Beyond the Blue Bonefish Charters, South Caicos - Also known as East Harbour , and The Big South, South Caicos is an eight square mile island of coral rock that has seen it all, from being the hideout for infamous pirates, to being part of the thriving turn-of-century salt business, to now being a bustling community of about twelve hundred people who make their living mostly from harvesting conch and lobster. Visitors will find a charming colonial style settlement with historic buildings still in use, plus some of the best scuba diving, blue water fishing, and bonefishing in the TCI’s. The white sand flats that sprawl from Long Cay up to East Caicos hold high numbers of bonefish, and the nearby deep water drop-offs into Columbus Passage means lots of big bones too. All-inclusive bonefishing packages are available with Beyond the Blue Bonefish Charters. Access to the island is via boat, or various puddle-jumpers from Provo. Contact : Reservations and information, 649 231-1703 or 321 795-3136; Internet: www.beyondtheblue.com; Email: bonefishbtb@aol.com

Captain Jack's Restaurant and Bar - The bright and clean pastel blue painted restaurant is located on the beach at North Palmetto Point, south of Gov. Harbour. It's a fun casual spot for a good lunch or dinner, with the usual fare of fresh fish (the Mahi Mahi and crab stuffed grouper are outstanding), conch any way you like it, burgers, a spicy lobster wrap (try this), a good selection of salads and desserts. The lively bar serves potent tropical concoctions and "specialty drinks" to put you in the island mood. If you are in the area on a Sunday, don't miss the pig roast barbecue with live music and dancing on the beach. There are also rental bungalows that go for about $150 USD per night, and a new development called Paradise Sands. This place is building about 50 villas, but they are cookie cutter pre-fab, so nothing special.
